Telecom spectrum news
Peru
Peru has officially finalized its long-awaited 5G C-band 3.5 GHz spectrum assignment, marking an important milestone in the country’s mobile broadband evolution. Alongside the auction results, we also completed a major update by adding missing frequency allocation layers that were previously unavailable in our public database!
Peru 5G Auction Results – 3.5 GHz Band
The Peruvian authorities concluded the allocation process for the 3.5 GHz band, which represents the primary capacity layer for 5G deployment. The awarded spectrum blocks were structured as contiguous 100 MHz segments, allowing operators to deploy high-capacity standalone and non-standalone 5G networks.
| Operator | Frequency Range | Bandwidth | Technology |
|---|---|---|---|
| Entel Perú | 3300 – 3400 MHz | 100 MHz | 5G NR (n78) |
| Viettel Perú (Bitel) | 3400 – 3500 MHz | 100 MHz | 5G NR (n78) |
| América Móvil Perú (Claro) | 3500 – 3600 MHz | 100 MHz | 5G NR (n78) |
| Integratel Perú | 3600 – 3700 MHz | 100 MHz | 5G NR (n78) |
The upper portion of the band (3700–3800 MHz) remained unassigned and may be made available in future allocation rounds. With this distribution, Peru now joins other regional markets that have adopted wide contiguous mid-band blocks as the foundation for nationwide 5G rollout.
Expanded Spectrum Coverage Data Now Available on Spectrum-Tracker
In parallel with the 5G auction update, our team has significantly expanded its Peru dataset by integrating detailed frequency assignments across multiple legacy coverage and capacity bands. These layers were previously not included in our platform and are now fully available for analysis and visualization.
The newly added spectrum layers include:
- 700 MHz (digital dividend coverage layer)
- 850 MHz cellular band
- 900 MHz GSM/LTE band
- 1800 MHz and 1900 MHz capacity layers
- AWS band (1700/2100 MHz)
- 2300 MHz TDD (Band 40)
- 2500–2690 MHz TDD (Band 41 / n41)
- 3500 MHz legacy and auctioned 5G blocks
This update provides a complete national spectrum footprint for Peru, covering both urban high-capacity deployments and wide-area rural coverage bands, showing also regional spectrum allocation.
Improved Market Transparency and Operator Comparison
With the addition of these datasets, users can now directly compare spectrum holdings between Peruvian mobile operators across low-band, mid-band and 5G layers. The platform enables detailed analysis of contiguous bandwidth positions, regional allocation patterns, and technology readiness for LTE Advanced and 5G Standalone deployments.
The expanded dataset also improves long-term tracking of refarming strategies, spectrum consolidation trends, and future auction preparation.
What This Means for Peru’s 5G Rollout
The completion of the 3.5 GHz auction combined with the availability of complementary capacity bands positions Peru for accelerated 5G network expansion. Operators now have access to balanced spectrum portfolios that support both wide coverage and high throughput use cases such as enhanced mobile broadband, industrial connectivity, and enterprise wireless services.
As deployment progresses, we will continue to monitor further spectrum releases, refarming initiatives, and regulatory updates affecting Peru’s mobile ecosystem.
