Spectrum is one of a mobile operator's most important assets, but understanding it often means working through auction results, licence documents and regulatory announcements in different formats. Spectrum Tracker brings those records together in a consistent mobile frequency spectrum database, with visual dashboards, geographic views and downloadable reports.
Use it to explore an operator's frequency portfolio, compare holdings within a country, understand regional licensing and put spectrum assets alongside the size and demand of a telecom market. For network planners, consultants, regulators, equipment suppliers and market analysts, the aim is simple: spend less time assembling information and more time understanding it.
A clear view of mobile spectrum allocations
Start with a world region, open a country and see its recorded spectrum layers together. Operator colours make portfolios easy to follow across bands. Dedicated operator pages let you focus on one holder while retaining the context of the complete frequency grid.
- Country and spectrum owner
- The market and recorded licence holder, including nationwide operators and regional licensees. A shared licence is not automatically a separate mobile operator.
- Frequency band and duplex mode
- The frequency layer, recorded 3GPP band and FDD, TDD, SDL or other applicable mode, from coverage bands through capacity spectrum and mmWave.
- Assigned frequency ranges
- Uplink and downlink starting and ending frequencies, or a single range for unpaired spectrum, with the corresponding bandwidth in MHz.
- Geographic scope
- Nationwide or regional rights, with the relevant service area, state, county or other recorded licence footprint. A regional licence does not imply nationwide coverage.
- Licence terms and transitions
- Recorded start and end dates, current assignments and announced future allocations. Expired records are retained in the database but excluded from current holdings.
- Allocation status
- Allocated, Unallocated, Reserved or Unknown, where recorded. An empty range is not automatically evidence that spectrum is available for purchase.
Charts show the position and width of assigned blocks, not just an operator's total. Neighbouring blocks can be combined for readability; genuine frequency gaps remain visible. Detailed tables retain the individual licence terms needed for closer analysis.
Country, telecom market and operator context
A spectrum portfolio becomes more meaningful when placed alongside the market it serves. Where published data is available, country records bring together population, geographic area, mobile connections, mobile penetration and mobile market revenue, with their reporting periods.
Understand the market
The Country spectrum dashboard combines spectrum portfolios with country indicators, recorded auction spending and regional licensing. Measures such as spectrum per million mobile connections help describe the relationship between assigned bandwidth and market demand.
Mobile connections are subscriptions or SIM connections, not necessarily unique people. Multi-SIM usage and the inclusion of business or connected-device subscriptions can affect comparisons and can take penetration above 100%.
Understand the holders
Operator information identifies the organisations holding spectrum licences and their assigned frequencies, bandwidth, geographic rights and recorded licence terms. Dedicated views let you compare spectrum portfolios across operators and frequency bands.
The service focuses on spectrum assets, country-level telecom market context and auction results. Operator business results and company-financial benchmarking are not included. Mobile connection figures describe aggregate market demand, not individual subscriber records.
Availability is visible, not assumed. The registered-user Actual data status page shows country coverage, operator links, market-metric availability and the latest recorded update dates. Missing values are not treated as zero. Country statistics are not presented as state or service-area estimates without matching local data.
Following auctions, regulatory decisions and market changes
Spectrum assignments change after auctions, renewals, licence transfers, operator transactions, spectrum refarming and other regulatory decisions. Spectrum Tracker collects and consolidates these changes so that country views can reflect both today's assignments and recorded future transitions.
The research draws on official regulators, government publications, auction results and licensing decisions. Country market statistics come from relevant official statistical and telecom-market publications. Information is structured into common fields and checked for frequency, ownership, validity and geographic consistency before publication.
Where available, auction records identify the original purchaser, band, award area, amount and currency. A historical award price is not a current valuation, and a package price is not automatically the price of each individual block. The purchaser at auction may also differ from today's licence holder.
Detail for the USA, Canada, India and Brazil
In these markets, a national total alone can hide the most important differences. Spectrum rights often apply to specific territories, and the same frequency can belong to different operators in different places. Maps and geographically scoped reports make those differences usable without treating local rights as a nationwide allocation.
United States
Explore holdings by state, county, operator and frequency layer, with licence and market references where recorded. County views connect frequency assignments to the areas in which the recorded rights occur.
Executive PDF reports are organised by state and retain county-level frequency ranges and licence detail. Download the public Alaska PDF example to see this approach in practice. Enterprise exports support the complete country, a state or a selected county. Spectrum repeated across counties is not simply added together to produce a statewide MHz total.
Explore the USA mapCanada
Canadian records follow ISED licence service areas, including the Tier 2, Tier 3 and Tier 4 hierarchy where represented. These boundaries do not always match provinces, so a provincial name alone can give a misleading impression of coverage.
PDF editions are grouped by the represented Tier 2 reporting areas, retaining smaller licensed footprints in their detailed registers. Maps and Enterprise exports preserve the recorded geographic distinctions rather than assuming that every holding covers an entire province.

Indian spectrum is organised around 22 licensed service areas, often called telecom circles. The database relates operators, frequency bands, assignments and recorded licence terms to these service areas, including metropolitan areas where separately licensed.
A separate PDF is available for each service area. Enterprise users can export the country or a service area. Recorded auction results retain their purchaser, currency and award scope; national market statistics remain clearly identified as national context.

Brazil combines national and regional licensing structures. Records preserve the relevant licensed areas and exclusions, rather than flattening all regional assignments into a single national portfolio.
Maps, regional PDF editions and Enterprise exports follow the licensing regions represented in the database. Where a licence excludes part of an area, that exclusion remains relevant: inclusion in a regional view does not turn a partial footprint into full-area coverage.
Explore the Brazil mapAustralia is also supported as a complex market. Its map and eight state/territory PDF editions retain the underlying licence footprints. Cross-border and partial-area rights are not presented as statewide coverage.
From public discovery to Enterprise data access
Countries are classified as Free or Premium. This controls access to detailed content, not the quality of the underlying data. Business and Enterprise subscriptions include both categories; their main difference is the ability to export structured data and support an organisational workflow.

Guest and Free dashboard allowances reset every Monday at 00:00 UTC. A country's overview and map share one slot; dedicated operator pages count separately. Reopening the same dashboard or changing map filters does not consume another slot. Public map previews for Premium markets also use this allowance. All registered users see the same main user-area destinations; restricted tools display a preview rather than granting the underlying paid access.

Business and Enterprise users can download a professionally formatted report from the Country spectrum dashboard. It brings charts, market context and detailed records into one document for management review and licensed business use.

A download covers the selected country or reporting territory, not just the operators or bands currently highlighted on screen. Adjacent assigned frequency blocks may be consolidated in the register, while real gaps and distinct licence terms are preserved. Where a metric, date or price is not recorded, the report does not invent a replacement.
Each PDF is issued to the authenticated recipient or licensed organisation and carries an issuance identifier and usage restrictions. It is a searchable, readable document, not a freely redistributable dataset. Sharing, republication or resale is subject to the applicable licence.
PNG files: the country's spectrum chart, ready to use
A PNG download is a high-resolution graphical overview of a country's recorded mobile frequency spectrum allocations. It includes the country flag and title, operator colour legend, frequency layers, assigned blocks, frequency scales and relevant allocation periods. Uplink and downlink remain visible for paired bands, and regional rows remain distinct where applicable.
The image follows the website's allocation presentation, including recorded current and future assignments while excluding expired holdings. It can be inserted into a document or slide within your licence terms, without taking a browser screenshot or including the surrounding website menus.

CSV and Excel exports for Enterprise users
The Data download workspace lets Enterprise users select a country, a global region or a supported territorial area, then export current assignments or current plus recorded future assignments. CSV and Excel contain the same underlying allocation records; Excel also includes coverage information and field definitions.
Fields cover the region, country, operator, frequency band, duplex mode, assigned frequency boundaries, bandwidth, allocation status, geographic scope and recorded validity dates. Licence references and source record identifiers are included where available. Large selections can be delivered in multiple files within a ZIP archive.
These are spectrum allocation exports, not a separate auction-price dataset or a collection of private research notes. Repeated geographic coverage must not be summed as if every row were additional nationwide spectrum.
API access is a planned extension. The current workspace includes an API placeholder, but no production API endpoints or credentials are available to customers yet. Discuss integration requirements with us before purchasing on the assumption of automated API delivery.
How PDF and PNG reports are refreshed
Subscriber downloads use the latest successfully published report edition. They are not a new research exercise or a complete rebuild each time someone clicks the download button. The public examples below are dated sample editions, provided to illustrate the format and content.
- Source data is updated
Reviewed spectrum or market information is added to the database. Licence dates can also change which assignments are current, future or expired.
- The refresh process checks for changes
The daily workflow is configured for 23:30 Central European local time, including daylight saving. It checks relevant data, licence transitions and report-template changes. Unchanged editions are reused.
- A validated edition is published
Affected PDFs and PNGs are regenerated and checked before replacing the previous version. If a build fails, the last validated edition remains available. A PDF is then personalised for the authorised recipient at download.
This means a database correction may appear on the website before it appears in a downloadable report. Check the report's data and reference dates when timing matters. Files already saved on your computer do not update automatically: download the latest edition again after a refresh.
