Frequency Spectrum of Mobile Operators in Vietnam

Vietnam, 23.11.2023

In the dynamic landscape of telecommunications, the frequency spectrum plays a pivotal role in shaping the efficiency and quality of mobile communication services. In Vietnam, a country experiencing rapid technological advancement and a surge in mobile connectivity, understanding the frequency spectrum allocated to mobile operators is crucial.

Vietnam's telecommunications industry has witnessed significant growth, with several mobile operators vying for their share of the frequency spectrum. The Vietnam Telecommunications Authority (VNTA) is responsible for overseeing the allocation and management of the frequency spectrum, ensuring a fair distribution among operators.

All major operators in Vietnam utilize various frequency bands to provide voice and data services to millions of subscribers across the country.

Current allocation given to the operators assumes 900, 1800 and 2100 MHz FDD bands, and 2600, 3500 GHz TDD bands, together with mmWave spectrum assingment in range of 26GHz.

However, the allocation of frequency spectrum in Vietnam is evolving to accommodate the increasing demand for high-speed data services and the impending rollout of 5G technology. Mobile operators are actively participating in spectrum auctions to secure additional bandwidth, ensuring they can meet the data requirements of a growing and tech-savvy population.

Still, challenges such as spectrum scarcity and the need for efficient spectrum management persist. The VNTA plays a critical role in addressing these challenges by promoting spectrum sharing, implementing advanced technologies, and formulating policies that encourage optimal spectrum use.

Latest frequency spectrum allocation of Vietnam can be found here https://www.spectrum-tracker.com/Vietnam, and it will be updated in case of any additonal spectrum allocation in the future.
