5G spectrum in Netherlands - frequency spectrum auction results
The auction for the 5G mobile frequency licenses in the 3500MHz band in the Netherlands concluded on July 1, 2024. The country’s three main mobile network operators - KPN, Odido, and Vodafone Ziggo secured spectrum, with total amount of 174.4 million Eur.
Auction was controlled by The National Inspectorate for Digital Infrastructure (Rijksinspectie Digitale Infrastructuur, RDI), part of the Ministry of Economic Affairs & Climate Policy (MEACP).
The auction featured 15 spectrum blocks within the 3450MHz-3750MHz range, distributed as three lots of 1×60MHz and twelve lots of 1×10MHz through a multi-round clock auction with exit bids. The licenses are valid from August 1, 2024, until December 31, 2040, covering a period of 16 years and five months.
Each operator obtained a 100MHz TDD spectrum allocation and relevant details have been reflected in our database.
